Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has issued a firm call to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to settle its outstanding dues to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fuel. Despite providing consistent support to the national carrier over the years, PSO stressed that PIA’s failure to meet its financial obligations has strained PSO’s finances to a critical point, necessitating a potential reduction and eventual suspension of fuel supply.
The decision to limit fuel supply comes after PIA’s continuous neglect of its financial commitments, resulting in a substantial outstanding debt of Rs. 26.8 billion. This sizable unpaid amount severely impedes PSO’s operational capabilities.
PSO emphasized the importance of PIA clearing its dues to enable the resumption of uninterrupted fuel supply, thereby averting any further disruption in the national flag carrier’s services. In recent weeks, PIA has been forced to suspend numerous flights due to its inability to secure the necessary fuel for its operations. The resolution of this financial matter is crucial to both entities’ continued smooth functioning.
