In a recent development, Malaysian authorities have intercepted a shipment of Pakistani goods containing drugs valued at Rs. 5 billion. The narcotics haul included 100 kg of cocaine and 411 kg of methamphetamine. The interception led to the arrest of five individuals by the Customs and Narcotics Crime Investigation of Malaysia.
The seized drugs were discovered concealed within a shipment of onions from Pakistan. Following this discovery, Malaysian authorities promptly notified the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) through an emergency letter. In response, Pakistan Customs took immediate action, arresting two individuals, including clearing agent Amir Ali Khan. An FIR has been registered in connection with the case.
This incident follows a previous drug bust by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Gwadar, where a substantial cache of drugs, totaling 1788 kilograms, was seized during a raid. The confiscated drugs included 1740 kg of hashish, 28 kg of ice, and 20 kg of morphine. The ANF spokesperson revealed that the drugs were manufactured in Afghanistan, with some portions recovered from tunnels dug into the hills. The locations used for storing the drugs were set ablaze following the seizure of the narcotics consignment.
The collaboration between Malaysian and Pakistani authorities underscores the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and illicit activities. The arrests and proactive measures taken by law enforcement agencies on both ends aim to address the transnational challenges posed by narcotics smuggling.
