In adherence to the Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities, Pakistan and India have successfully exchanged lists of their respective nuclear installations and facilities.
This historic agreement, signed on December 31, 1988, and ratified on January 27, 1991, reinforces cooperation on nuclear matters between the two nations. Mandated by the agreement, both countries annually share information about their nuclear installations on January 1st.
In a reciprocal action, Pakistan submitted its list to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, while India simultaneously provided its list to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. The exchange, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad and the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, underscores the official and diplomatic nature of the process.
This practice of exchanging nuclear information has been upheld since January 1, 1992, reflecting a consistent commitment to transparency and mutual understanding. The Agreement clearly defines the nuclear installations and facilities covered, emphasizing the importance of precise information exchange.
