The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has recently approved a groundbreaking “Life Insurance for All” program, ensuring financial security for the families of deceased household heads. This new initiative, a significant addition to KP’s welfare framework, will provide compensation of up to Rs. 1 million to families if the primary breadwinner passes away, offering Rs. 0.5 million for individuals over 60 years old. This insurance plan is part of a broader social safety net, working alongside the province’s health-card program, which has already gained traction for its extensive health coverage.

To manage these schemes, KP is set to establish Pakistan’s first Islamic Takaful Insurance Company, aiming to bring inclusive insurance options that comply with Islamic financing principles. This is one of several ambitious initiatives undertaken by the province to improve the quality of life and support its citizens economically.

Additional initiatives include a large-scale solar energy program and a 365-kilometer trade corridor connecting KP to other major regions. The solarization project aims to provide free solar units to 65,000 households, with another phase offering installment-based solar units to an additional 65,000 families. This effort not only supports energy independence but also cuts costs for low-income households. Furthermore, a Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan motorway aims to streamline trade with neighboring regions, enhancing KP’s economic integration and facilitating a smooth trade route with Afghanistan and Central Asia
