In a recent interview, Pakistani Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah publicly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump, branding him a “liar” and comparing him with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Sanaullah accused both Trump and Khan of prioritizing personal agendas over national interests, suggesting that their rhetoric and policies promote division and misinformation. He drew attention to Trump’s ongoing legal challenges in the U.S. and likened these to Khan’s own legal issues in Pakistan, stating that leaders like them thrive on populist support rather than policy

Sanaullah specifically pointed to the destabilizing impact of both figures’ claims of fraud and conspiracy theories, highlighting how such accusations have eroded public trust in democratic institutions.

He argued that both leaders stir up their bases using “baseless allegations” to fuel discontent. The minister urged the public in Pakistan to be cautious of leaders who imitate Trump’s style, seeing it as harmful to national unity.

These statements align with the PML-N’s strategy to counter PTI’s influence by questioning the credibility of its leadership. Sanaullah emphasized that political stability relies on responsible leadership, contrasting his party’s approach to the divisive style he associates with Trump and Khan.
