Pakistani pop singer Annie Khalid, widely known for her hit single Mahiya, has revealed the deeply emotional reason behind her prolonged absence from the public eye — her daughter’s life-threatening medical emergency.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Annie shared that her seven-year-old daughter, Isha, suffered two cardiac arrests within eight hours earlier this year, leading to severe organ failure and paralysis. The incident took place on January 23, 2024, a date the singer described as “etched into [her] soul forever.”

A Life-Altering Ordeal

According to Annie, Isha’s sudden collapse was caused by arrhythmia and hypoxia, which resulted in 45 minutes of oxygen deprivation, leading to multi-organ failure. The little girl, who had previously been completely healthy, was left unresponsive and had to be placed on life support, including a heart-lung bypass machine and dialysis for her kidneys.

Annie emotionally recalled the devastating moment doctors informed the family that her daughter’s life was in critical danger. “She wasn’t responding. Her body was tired. We were told… it was time to put her on life support,” she wrote.

Faith Amidst the Darkness

Despite the grim prognosis — which included brain damage, paralysis, and a diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy — Annie and her family clung to faith. “When medicine had no more answers… Allah did,” she said, expressing her gratitude for the miracle of Isha’s survival.

Doctors, stunned by Isha’s recovery, still cannot medically explain how she pulled through. But for Annie, the answer lies in divine mercy: “Because where logic ends, divine mercy begins.”

A Journey of Strength and Hope

Now in recovery, Isha is smiling, laughing, and healing, though still reliant on a wheelchair. Annie remains hopeful and firm in her belief that her daughter will walk again, “Insha’Allah, with every beat of my heart.”

The singer concluded her message with a powerful reminder of motherhood’s resilience. “People ask, ‘Annie, where have you been?’ I’ve been here, being a mother to the most courageous, resilient, and beautiful girl I’ve ever known.”

She urged her followers to continue sending prayers for Isha’s recovery, acknowledging that this battle, while painful, has been a testimony to faith, hope, and love.
