Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly emphasized the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah in response to repeated Israeli provocations. During his visit to Doha, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s all-out support for Qatar following the recent Israeli strikes in the Qatari capital. The prime minister termed the September 9 attack a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.
In a bilateral meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit, PM Shehbaz condemned the Israeli strike on a residential area in Doha, which caused multiple civilian casualties and injuries.
Pakistan’s Strong Condemnation of Israeli Aggression
The premier described the Israeli assault as a flagrant breach of international law and called on the global community to hold Tel Aviv accountable. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, underscoring Pakistan’s unified position on the matter.
PM Shehbaz reminded the Emir of his earlier visit to Doha and highlighted the historic and enduring fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar. He stressed that these relations would continue to grow stronger in the face of shared challenges.
Appreciation for Qatar’s Emergency Summit
Highlighting Israel’s continued aggression in the Middle East, the prime minister welcomed Qatar’s decision to host the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha. He also recalled that, at Qatar’s request, Pakistan had sought an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the rapidly worsening situation.
Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim, in turn, praised Prime Minister Shehbaz’s participation in the summit and his visit to express solidarity during such a critical moment. Both leaders agreed to remain in close coordination given the unfolding regional crisis.
Arab-Islamic Summit Demands Sanctions on Israel
A day earlier, Muslim leaders gathered in Doha for the Arab-Islamic Summit to deliberate on the Israeli strike and its broader regional implications. The summit’s communiqué called for wide-ranging sanctions against Israel, including:
- An arms embargo
- Halting transfer of military equipment
- Review of economic and diplomatic ties
- Legal action against Israel in international forums
The leaders condemned Tel Aviv’s repeated violations of international law, warning that Israel’s actions threatened both regional and global peace.
Reaffirmation of Support for Palestine
The summit also reiterated firm backing for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Any attempt to sideline or undermine the Palestinian cause was categorically rejected.
The communiqué held Israel responsible for genocide, ethnic cleansing, blockade, and starvation policies against Palestinians, labeling them as war crimes under the Geneva Conventions. Leaders further condemned illegal settlement expansion, forced displacement, and annexation attempts, describing such practices as crimes against humanity.
Call for Urgent International Action
Participants stressed that the international community must act decisively to stop Israel’s aggression. They warned that global silence and inaction had emboldened Israel to continue violating international law and perpetuating a culture of impunity.
The summit concluded with a strong message of unity among Muslim nations, signaling a collective resolve to confront Israel’s actions diplomatically, politically, and legally.
