Pakistan Railways has implemented a new winter timetable for train operations across the country, which officially came into effect today. The updated schedule includes adjustments to departure timings, restored routes, and newly established permanent stops to improve overall service efficiency.
According to the official statement, minor changes have been made to the departure timings of sixteen trains, while three trains have had certain station stops removed from their routes. Additionally, four previously suspended trains have been reinstated and are now included in the revised schedule.
Under the updated timetable, several trains will see slight modifications to their departure hours to better align with passenger demand during the winter season. The Allama Iqbal Express will now depart from Sialkot at 7:30 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m., while the Narowal Passenger Train will leave at 7:25 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. Similarly, the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Passenger Train will begin its journey from Narowal at 5:00 a.m., half an hour earlier than its previous schedule.
The Awam Express will now depart from Karachi at 8:00 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m., and the Shalimar Express will leave Lahore at 7:10 a.m. instead of 7:30 a.m. These small but deliberate changes are designed to enhance punctuality and ensure smoother coordination between connecting routes.
Pakistan Railways has also confirmed that nine trains which previously had temporary stops have now been granted permanent station stops. The list includes the Rehman Baba Express, Karachi Express, Shalimar Express, Jaffar Express, Pak Business Express, Pakpattan Express, Tezgam, and Millat Express. The move aims to accommodate consistent passenger demand observed over recent months.
Officials from Pakistan Railways stated that the updated timetable was introduced after careful assessment of travel patterns and operational requirements during colder months. The new schedule is intended to enhance travel convenience and optimize train frequency while maintaining efficiency across the network.
Passengers are encouraged to review the latest timetable before travel and stay updated through official Pakistan Railways communication channels for any future adjustments. The new operational plan is expected to improve overall reliability, especially on high-demand routes connecting major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
