Five out of seven cancelled flights belonged to international carriers
Foreign airlines outnumbered local carriers in flight cancellations at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Thursday, as five out of seven scheduled flights were grounded due to technical and operational issues, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV.
Airport officials confirmed that both regional and long-haul routes were affected, with passengers facing extended delays and last-minute notifications.
List of cancelled international flights
According to the airport’s official flight schedule, the following foreign-operated flights were cancelled:
- Air China flight CA-946 from Karachi to Beijing
- AirAsia flight DC-109 from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur
- Emirates flight EK-609 from Karachi to Dubai
- Salam Air flight OV-516 from Karachi to Muscat
- Oman Air flight WY-324 from Karachi to Muscat
These cancellations disrupted travel plans for hundreds of passengers, many of whom were connecting to onward destinations in East Asia and the Middle East.
Domestic carriers also impacted
Among Pakistani airlines, AirSial cancelled two domestic flights:
- PF-125 and PF-123 — both bound for Islamabad
Airport authorities attributed the disruptions to a mix of technical maintenance requirements and operational scheduling issues, assuring that efforts are underway to minimize inconvenience for passengers.
Passengers advised to confirm flight status
A spokesperson for Karachi Airport urged passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the terminal to avoid unnecessary delays. Airlines have also been directed to provide timely updates and alternate travel arrangements where possible.
The latest round of cancellations adds to a series of flight disruptions witnessed in recent weeks, highlighting ongoing operational challenges faced by carriers amid fluctuating demand and maintenance backlogs.
