Crown Prince Approves Sweeping Urban and Economic Reforms

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved a series of transformative policies aimed at making the emirate one of the world’s most beautiful, liveable, and healthiest cities. The initiatives, announced during the UAE Annual Government Meetings 2025, span urban development, healthcare, education, and economic growth, reinforcing Dubai’s vision for long-term sustainability and global competitiveness.

Massive Urban Greening Initiative to Expand Public Parks

Dubai’s Public Parks and Greenery Strategy will introduce 310 new parks and upgrade 322 existing ones, increasing green spaces to 187 square kilometres—all irrigated with 100% recycled water. By 2040, the city aims to ensure 80% of residents live within a five-minute walk of a park while boosting annual park visits to 95 million. The plan also includes tripling the number of trees across the emirate.

Aviation Talent 33 to Strengthen Dubai’s Global Hub Status

The Aviation Talent 33 initiative seeks to cement Dubai’s leadership in global aviation by creating 15,000 jobs and 4,000 training opportunities through 30+ strategic partnerships. This aligns with Dubai’s goal to double its economy and integrate 65,000 Emiratis into the private sector, further enhancing workforce development in the aviation industry.

Affordable Schools and Sports Hub Plans Unveiled

To improve education accessibility, Dubai will add 60 affordable schools by 2033, providing 120,000 additional seats through incentives like reduced government fees and leasing costs. Meanwhile, the Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033 aims to position Dubai as the world’s top sports hub, with 19 programs and 75 initiatives targeting international events, talent development, and community sports participation.

New Financial Court and Enhanced Early Disease Detection

A Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Court will be established to streamline bankruptcy cases, supporting Dubai’s goal to rank among the top three global financial centres. On the healthcare front, the emirate will expand early disease detection programs, aiming for a 40% rise in colon cancer screenings, 50% increase in vaccinations, and 90% patient satisfaction, with medical appointments reduced to seven days or less.
