Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi has expressed his commitment to expanding the geographic footprint of the Pakistan Super League by exploring the possibility of hosting PSL 11 matches in Azad Kashmir. Speaking during recent deliberations, Naqvi said that every possible effort is being made to stage matches at the Muzaffarabad stadium, a move that would mark a historic moment for cricket in the region.

The remarks came during a Board of Governors meeting held under Naqvi’s chairmanship, where several key development decisions were taken. Among the major approvals was the second phase of reconstruction at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi, reflecting the PCB’s ongoing focus on upgrading existing cricketing infrastructure across the country.

Another significant decision involved the Lahore City Cricket Association ground. The Board approved plans to upgrade the LCCA ground on the lines of England’s iconic Oval, aiming to modernize facilities and elevate the venue’s standards to align with international benchmarks. The upgradation is expected to enhance player facilities, spectator experience, and the ground’s overall suitability for high-profile matches.

During the meeting, Board members praised the PCB chairman and his team for the successful execution of the PSL road shows held in London and New York. These international promotional events were described as a positive step in strengthening the league’s global brand and attracting overseas interest in Pakistan’s flagship T20 tournament.

Naqvi’s role in ensuring the continuation of Sri Lanka’s recent tour of Pakistan was also acknowledged by the Board. Members commended his leadership during a challenging period, noting that maintaining international cricket on home soil remains a top priority for the PCB. In response, Naqvi emphasized that the credit for the successful tour belonged to the collective efforts of the entire PCB team rather than any individual.

He further stated that the achievements of the PSL road shows were a shared success for both the Board and the wider PSL management. According to Naqvi, such initiatives are essential for positioning the league among the world’s leading T20 competitions and opening new commercial and sporting opportunities.

Importantly, Naqvi made it clear that the PCB’s vision for Muzaffarabad goes beyond domestic cricket. He said international matches would also be held at the Muzaffarabad stadium once necessary preparations and standards are met, underlining a broader strategy to bring top-level cricket to new regions.

If realized, hosting PSL and international matches in Azad Kashmir would not only boost local enthusiasm for the sport but also signal the PCB’s intent to make cricket more inclusive and nationally representative.
