The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is moving forward with plans to construct Islamabad’s first dedicated cricket stadium, marking a significant milestone in the development of sports infrastructure in the federal capital. The authority has recently held a consultative meeting to accelerate the project’s implementation and finalize key construction-related matters.
During the meeting, officials directed the project consultant to promptly assess whether the construction rates proposed by the contractor are reasonable. The evaluation is expected to help expedite the approval process and allow work on the landmark project to begin without unnecessary delays.
The new cricket stadium will be constructed near D-12, at the scenic foothills of the Margalla Hills in Zone III of Islamabad. The location has been selected to provide both accessibility and a picturesque setting, making the venue one of the most attractive sporting destinations in the country.
According to the CDA, the stadium has been designed as a replica of the Dubai International Stadium, one of the region’s most renowned cricket venues. The project aims to bring world-class sporting facilities to Islamabad while enhancing the capital’s ability to host domestic and international cricket events.
Once completed, the stadium will have a seating capacity of approximately 35,000 spectators, making it one of Pakistan’s major cricket venues. The facility is expected to meet modern international standards and provide improved amenities for players, officials, media personnel, and cricket fans.
