As the month of Rajab begins, anticipation builds across Pakistan for the sacred month of Ramadan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared its forecasts for the moon sightings that will mark the commencement of both Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr in 2025.

Ramadan 1446 AH Prediction

According to the PMD, there is a “good chance” that the Ramadan moon will be sighted on February 28 or March 1st, 2025. The department notes that the new moon is expected to be born at the crossing conjunction point on February 28, 2025. Should this prediction hold, the first day of Ramadan will be observed on March 1st, Saturday.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a time of spiritual reflection, increased devotion, and self-discipline for Muslims. The PMD has also forecasted the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which marks the end of Ramadan, on March 29 or 30, 2025. This would mean that Eid ul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on March 30 or 31st, 2025.
