Lahore, October 26, 2022: Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), the main wing of Punjab Tourism department, has joined hands with Pakistan’s renowned ride-hailing platform Careem. To increase the magnitude of tourism, this partnership is launching a new car type specifically for guided tours called “Safe and Secure Tourism (SST)” in Lahore.
The car type will include three routes: the first route will include a tour of Lahore Museum, the National History Museum, Lahore Fort, and the Badshahi Mosque, second route will include a tour of Wazir Khan Mosque, and Shalimar Gardens and the third route will be dedicated to Wagah Border. In addition to the collaboration, TDCP has trained 10 Careem Captains to become certified guides for visitors to the historical and cultural city of Lahore. Additionally, Careem has also become the official partner of TDCP in mobility to facilitate local and foreign tourists visiting the country.
To kickstart the car type, an event was held at a local hotel in Lahore which included senior officials from TDCP and Careem, Sadaf Zafar, Additional Secretary, Agha Muhammad Ali Abbas, Managing Director, Shahid Warraich, Deputy General Manager (Center), Fawad Awan, Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs, Musa Raza, Manager Marketing, Bakhtawar, Marketing Consultant, from TDCP and Feroz Jaleel, Country Head, Pakistan and Ammar Hassan, Senior Manager, Operations at Careem.
Talking on this occasion, Agha Muhammad Ali Abbas, Managing Director, TDCP, said, “We are taking all possible measures for the development and promotion of tourism in the country. With this partnership, our aim is to set up a network of projects and initiatives to boost tourism and provide safe and secure means of transportation to everyone. Our collaboration with Careem will enable tourists to explore the city of Lahore and will promote tourism in the region”.
Feroz Jaleel, Country Head of Careem Pakistan, added that “This agreement with TDCP will definitely boost the scope of tourism and is intended to open new doors for both local and foreign tourists who are interested to see the rich culture and beautiful architecture of Lahore.” Adding further he said, “this is our commitment to provide safe, secure, and reliable mobility across Pakistan and we will continue to scale this up with more routes and cities in the future.”
With this partnership, both TDCP and Careem aim to uplift the country’s tourism sector and provide reliable, safe and secure movement to tourists.
