Master Changan Motors is gearing up to introduce its latest electric vehicles, the Deepal S07 SUV and L07 Sedan, to the Pakistani market. These highly anticipated models have recently arrived at Changan Autos dealerships for testing, offering car enthusiasts a first glimpse of what’s to come.

Spotted on Karachi Streets

The lime yellow Deepal S07 SUV was recently spotted navigating the streets of Karachi, specifically in the Port Qasim area, near the Master Changan Motors Limited plant. This proximity indicates that the SUV is currently undergoing road tests, signaling its impending launch in Pakistan.

These sightings have generated considerable buzz among automotive enthusiasts, suggesting that the debut of Deepal’s twin electric vehicles (EVs) is just around the corner. Although official details remain scarce, Deepal has established a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, hinting at an upcoming marketing campaign.

Joint Venture with Industry Giants

Deepal is an EV-first brand from Changan, born out of a collaboration with tech giant Huawei and CATL, the leading battery manufacturer for the past seven years. Huawei has played a significant role in designing and developing the vehicle’s operating system, Harmony OS 4, which operates on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 platform.

The Deepal vehicles boast a 68kWh battery from CATL, promising an impressive range of over 530 kilometers on a single charge. This is nearly double the range of an Audi e-tron, making it a formidable contender in the EV market. Both the S07 SUV and L07 Sedan feature 250 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.

Specifications and Features

The Deepal L07 Sedan is a mid-sized vehicle, measuring 4820 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. It comes with R19 wheels and a ground clearance of 150 mm, placing it in a similar category as the Hyundai Sonata.

On the other hand, the Deepal S07 SUV measures 4750 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, and 1625 mm in height, also with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. The SUV, which is wider than both the Santa Fe and Fortuner but shorter in height, features 20-inch wheels and a ground clearance of 165 mm.

Design and Aesthetics

The design of these vehicles is attributed to Bertrand Bach, a former General Motors veteran known for his work on Lamborghini designs. The exterior design of the Deepal models is sleek and futuristic, with frameless doors and a “Fastback” sporty stance on the L07 Sedan, merging premium sports aesthetics with cutting-edge technology.

Anticipated Launch

While Master Changan Motors Limited has not yet announced an official release date for these vehicles, speculation suggests that the launch could occur within the next two to three months. The introduction of these EVs marks a significant step forward for the Pakistani automotive market, aligning with global trends towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions.
