Rana Tanveer, Federal Education Minister, while attending the stone-laying ceremony of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Sheikhupura said that his government has been planning to make education accessible to 20 million out-of-school children in Pakistan. He said, “Education has always been our priority.”
He further said that the Vice Chancellor of AIOU Prof Dr Nasir Mahmood can play a major role in supporting this mission due to his “dynamic” leadership qualities.
Tanveer also said that the foundation of Sheikhupura Regional Campus was laid last year. “Today, we are laying the foundation stone of its academic block. It’s good to hear that Allama Iqbal Open University has been ranked first in the quality of education in Pakistan.”
Tanveer congratulated the VC and faculty members on achieving this milestone and said that AIOU is playing a good time in providing quality education l.
It was also reported that the university will allocate of Rs 2 million each year for scholarship programs and those students who secure 80% marks, their fee would be returned.
