In a bold move to expand the tax base, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan is set to take legal action against a diverse group of professionals, including doctors, lawyers, and industrialists. As part of the initiative, FBR plans to register members from various associations and service providers, specifically lawyers and tax advisers associated with High Courts and the Supreme Court.
The comprehensive data collection process is currently underway nationwide, capturing detailed information, including National Identity Card (NIC) details and phone numbers.
To ensure the accuracy of the collected data, the FBR will collaborate with Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen tax compliance by bringing a broader spectrum of professionals into the tax net, ultimately contributing to the country’s economic development.
