The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced Saturday, October 19, 2024, as a working day for all the model schools and colleges of Islamabad that reside within urban and rural sectors.
This has been done in an attempt to help restore classes after weeks of academic disruption caused by class shutdowns due to Shanghai Cooperation Organization activities held in the city.
Saturday in Islamabad is a working day on October 19: Here is why
According to the order issued by Dr. Tabassum Naz, Director of Schools, the FDE would recover the lost academic days and keep the academic schedule on track by declaring Saturday a working day.
This way, FDE would prevent the students from losing a day in their syllabus. The extra instructional day will be useful for the schools and colleges in order to recover lost time and to keep other crucial academic activities on track.
In such a scenario, declaring Saturday a working day as a compensatory measure for the lost days during the SCO event would be warranted. It also vindicates the FDE’s efforts to maintain academic standards properly and that students receive adequate time to complete their coursework.
On that day, schools and colleges will have to arrange makeup classes so that all the lost hours can be recovered and the usual train of study can be regained.
The FDE has also transmitted this notice to all institutions under it jurisdiction so that Saturday is used as a working day in order to recover the instructional time lost during conference days.
