Government’s Initiative: Introducing Electric Bikes to Combat Smog

Amidst growing concerns over environmental degradation and increasing air pollution, the government has taken a proactive step toward mitigating smog intensity. In a bid to curb air pollution and reduce carbon emissions, the imminent launch of electric bikes stands as a promising initiative to combat the looming threat of smog.

LAHORE: According to Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Caretaker Provincial Minister of Transport and Livestock, the government was prepared to introduce electric bikes to reduce the level of pollution.

He said that the E-bikes would be reasonably priced and that government workers would also be able to rent electric bikes.

“To reduce the usage of expensive fuel and protect the environment of the cities, the government has decided to introduce electric bikes and safe city camera projects in which smoke-emitting vehicles will be detected by the cameras and immediate alerts were relayed to the field forces,” the minister stated in an interview with a state-run news channel.

Punjab government was taking steps in accordance with PM’s eco-friendly measures, he said, adding that Punjab would be the first province in the country to give such a great incentive to owners of electric vehicles.
