IHC Summons Defence, Interior Ministry Officials in Intizar Panjotha Missing Case 24

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has called senior officials from the Defence and Interior ministries in connection with the disappearance of Intizar Panjotha, a significant case that has raised concerns about enforced disappearances in Pakistan. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued this order, reflecting the judiciary’s serious approach to addressing missing persons cases.

Panjotha, a lawyer and focal person for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, has been missing for several weeks. His family has filed a petition, alleging state involvement in his disappearance. The IHC has now demanded that the Defence and Interior ministries present a detailed report on the steps taken to locate him(

The court’s order is part of a broader effort to hold state institutions accountable in cases of missing persons, a recurring issue in Pakistan. Chief Justice Farooq also emphasized the need for transparency from the authorities, pushing for swift action in resolving such cases.
