Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Muslim Ummah, declaring that the country will continue to play its role as a nuclear power in safeguarding regional peace and sovereignty. In a detailed interview with Al Jazeera, he stressed that Pakistan’s responsibility extends beyond its borders, particularly at a time when the Muslim world faces escalating aggression.
Condemnation of Israeli Strikes in the Region
Dar strongly condemned the recent Israeli strikes on Qatar, Lebanon, and Syria, describing them as violations of sovereignty and international law. He argued that such attacks cannot be ignored, calling for a united response from Muslim nations to resist external aggression. According to him, disunity among Islamic countries only serves to embolden aggressors, while unity can help restore balance and stability in the region.
Call for Ceasefire in Gaza
Highlighting the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, Dar emphasized the urgency of a ceasefire to prevent further civilian casualties. He underscored that continued hostilities have not only intensified suffering but also deepened instability across the Middle East. As part of his proposal, Dar suggested the creation of a joint Arab security force to counter aggression and ensure collective defense, stressing that the Muslim Ummah must take charge of its own security rather than relying solely on external powers.
Criticism of UN Security Council’s Inaction
The Deputy Prime Minister also took aim at the United Nations Security Council, criticizing its failure to act decisively on long-standing disputes such as Kashmir and Palestine. He argued that the repeated inability of the UN to address these core issues has eroded its credibility and highlighted the need for institutional reforms. Dar called for a more accountable and transparent international system where the voices of smaller nations are heard and respected.
Pakistan’s Pledge for Unity and Stability
Dar reiterated that Pakistan, with its strategic position and defense capabilities, stands ready to fulfill its obligations in protecting peace and sovereignty within the Muslim world. He reaffirmed that the country’s foreign policy remains centered on solidarity, justice, and collective security for the entire Ummah.
