The Peoples Bus Service will halt operations on certain routes on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, impacting commuters across Karachi. During these days, bus service will be suspended citywide, with the exception of the route from Malir Halt to Super Highway, which will continue to operate. This measure is part of broader traffic and security plans implemented for Muharram processions.

Karachi’s traffic police have issued a comprehensive traffic plan for the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram to manage the large processions. On the 8th of Muharram, a procession will commence at Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar. As a result, MA Jinnah Road will be closed from Gurumandir to Tower due to security concerns. The procession route will traverse Nishtar Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, and Mehfil-i-Shah-i-Khurasan, passing through several key points on MA Jinnah Road.

On the 9th of Muharram, another significant procession will begin at Martin Road Imambargah in Liaquatabad at 9 am, reaching Nishtar Park by noon for a Majlis. Post-Majlis, the procession will proceed to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah, following a route through Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Mehfil-i-Shah-i-Khurasan, and various points on MA Jinnah Road. Additional stops include Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, Tibet Chowk, Bolton Market, Bombay Bazaar, and Nawaz Mahabat Khanjee Road.

The processions are expected to cause considerable traffic disruptions. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and use alternative routes where available. Enhanced security measures will be in place, and traffic police will be deployed to manage road closures and ensure the smooth conduct of the processions. Emergency services will also be on standby, and public announcements will keep citizens informed about route changes and updates.

The suspension of bus services is a precautionary measure to ensure safety during these significant events. Participants in the processions are urged to follow the designated routes, and citizens are encouraged to cooperate with the traffic police. The city authorities, in coordination with religious organizations, aim to manage the processions efficiently while minimizing disruption.
