Lahore Electric Supply Company has implemented the latest technology in its network to combat widespread electricity theft. This is a major step in ensuring a fairer distribution of power and reducing outages.

Smart Scanner Meters: LESCO installed 135 scanning meters of the highest technology in Lahore to enable its technical team to pinpoint areas where power theft is rampant. These meters collect precise data to provide a clearer picture of electricity usage patterns and identify illegal connections.

Scaling up the Fight: LESCO intends to install similar meters in all of its districts, recognizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the initial rollout. This comprehensive approach is expected to significantly improve its anti-theft effort, improving grid stability and efficiency.

Previous Crackdowns Yield Results: LESCO’s recent antitheft campaign proved successful. It uncovered 282 illegal connections in its five districts. The result was 268 FIRs against the perpetrators. 176 cases were registered, and 24 people arrested.

Zero-Tolerance Policy: LESCO Engineer Shahid Haider, CEO of LESCO, has pledged to end electricity theft. Under his leadership operations are conducted without discrimination and target both pilferers as well as LESCO employees who have been complicit.

Financial impact: LESCO data shows that the company has successfully charged over Rs. Since last month, LESCO has recovered 1.9 billion rupees for stolen electricity. These recovered revenues can be reinvested into grid upgrades and improvements in service for legitimate customers.

The proactive approach of LESCO, using cutting-edge technologies and an unwavering commitment towards justice, sends a strong message: power theft is not tolerated. This initiative promises to brighten the future of Lahore’s power infrastructure and create a fair electricity distribution system.
