Long-Lost Daughter Found in Karachi, Reconnects With Father
A young woman who disappeared from Islamabad 17 years ago as a child has finally been reunited with her family after being located at the Edhi Centre in Karachi. Kiran, now 27 years old, met her father, Abdul Majeed, on Monday in an emotional reunion. She had gone missing at the age of 10 while stepping out to buy ice cream and was later taken to an Edhi facility in Islamabad before being shifted to Karachi under the care of Bilquis Edhi.
Years of Search and Failed Leads Finally End in Joyful Reunion
Sabah Faisal Edhi, from the Edhi Foundation, revealed that multiple attempts were made over the years to locate Kiran’s family, including several trips to Islamabad, but all efforts proved futile at the time. Kiran’s father shared that the family had searched extensively but eventually lost hope of ever finding her. The breakthrough came when police contacted them with information confirming Kiran’s identity, leading to the long-awaited reunion. Majeed described the moment as miraculous, expressing overwhelming happiness at being reunited with his daughter after nearly two decades.
Edhi Foundation Provided Care and Education During Kiran’s Stay
During her years at the Edhi Centre, Kiran received education in both academic and religious studies, along with vocational training in cooking and sewing. She credited the foundation for providing emotional support during moments of despair, helping her cope with the uncertainty of ever returning home. The Edhi Centre confirmed that Kiran is the fifth missing girl from Karachi whose family has been successfully traced. Safe City Punjab played a crucial role in facilitating the reunion by assisting in identifying her relatives.
