In the harsh warning that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued to Lebanon, saying this may be its future, just like Gaza. However, he said the country still has a chance to save Lebanon from such a dismal fate. In the video message, he addressed the people of Lebanon on October 8, 2024, in which he went on to threaten severe consequences for Lebanon if Hezbollah continues its actions. Netanyahu is encouraging citizens to do something while they still have the chance to save Lebanon from destruction.

In his speech, Netanyahu declared that Israel had already assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s potential successors. He declared that Hezbollah was weaker than it had been in many years and provided Lebanon with a rare chance to save Lebanon from the long and devastating war. He then compared what Gaza is becoming, which has caused more than 41,965 deaths and an almost complete displacement of its approximately 2.3 million residents, to what could become of Lebanon.
Israeli leader noted that the current wave of military strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon is only part of the larger military campaign mounted by Israel. The latest strikes included an airstrike against Hezbollah commander Hashem Safieddine, who could turn out to be a future Nasrallah. In a bid to intensify cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, Netanyahu threatened that Lebanon could yet suffer more should it fail to act appropriately. But he held out hope for saving Lebanon.
“We have degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities; we took out thousands of them including Nasrallah himself, and Nasrallah’s replacement, and the replacement of his replacement.”
Lebanese authorities have yet to comment on Netanyahu’s statement. Israeli continues razing Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut, particularly Dahiyeh, despite the brutal words of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that one of the world’s most insolent regimes is on the cusp of defeat. The international community is making rounds blasting the increased violence since Lebanon is already suffering due to economic collapse.
