3 Easy Ways to Burn Stubborn Belly Fat

The burning of stubborn belly fat is one of the common goals many people have, but it is also considered to be one of the toughest challenges in fitness. Not only does this type of fat make you look bad physically, but it also poses serious health hazards, which include heart disease and diabetes.

Fortunately, with the right approach, you can conquer this challenge. Whether it’s to cut down on a few pounds for health purposes or so you can look better with a leaner and a more toned midriff, the following three scientifically-backed procedures will provide your pathway to achieving a flatter stomach and a healthier life. In this article, we will take a look at such methods. Keep reading till the end to find out:

Easy Ways to Burn Stubborn Belly Fat

Here are three easy ways to burn stubborn belly fat:

1. Balanced Diet

A well-balanced diet matters where overall health is concerned but matters most in relation to fat reduction in the mid-body. Here are the principal dietary guidelines to stick by:

a. Boost Your Protein Intake

Protein will not only help in the repair and growth of muscles but also keep you full for long, reducing the intake of total calories. Add lean protein sources such as chicken, turkey, fish, beans, and legumes to your diet.

b. Decrease Refined Carbs and Sugars

High intake of refined carbohydrates and sugars is associated with greater belly fat. This is because these foods can be a real nightmare when trying to lose weight as they shoot up blood sugar and insulin levels in the body, a situation that may spur or boost fat storage. Instead, always go for whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

c. Add Healthy Fats

Not all fats are bad. Healthy fats, like in avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil, can help your body lose belly fat. These fats are more filling and may help you end up eating less overall.

d. Stay Hydrated

Water is necessary for nearly all bodily functions that make your metabolism go, including digestion and temperature regulation. Water can also help control hunger and keep you from overeating. Drink at least 8 glasses a day.

2. Stay Active with Regular Exercise

Exercise is a sure-shot method for melting belly fat. The following are the exercise strategies that can be implemented:

a. Aerobic Exercises

Cardio exercises like running, cycling, or swimming can also burn loads of calories and are good for your cardio health. See that you log in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous cardio every week.

b. Resistance Training

This, in addition, will help in building up muscles and eventually improve metabolic rate so that one can burn more calories while resting. Do weight lifting or resistance training exercises at least two days a week.

c. HIIT: High-Intensity Interval Training

HIIT is short, powerful exercises that are interspaced with small periods of rest/work at low intensity. This type of training will really help you lose your belly fat quickly as it is considered the best way to get rid of excess body fat. Do HIIT 2-3 times a week.

3. Keep Stress and Sleep under Control

Stress and poor sleep may not come across as the red flags behind belly fat, but here’s how to get them under control:

a. Stress Management Techniques

The bigger problem associated with weight gain is the chronic stress brought on by cortisol – the midsection is most affected due to this hormone. Yoga, meditation, deep breathing, and other hobbies such as reading can prove to be very good stress-reducing mechanisms.

b. Quality Sleep

Poor sleep becomes a means for gaining weight in the body, including belly fat. A person should get at least 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night. Get into a regular sleeping habit, have an environment comfortable enough to get restful sleep, and limit the use of digital devices before ending your day.

c. Maintain a Healthy Work-Life Balance

Maintaining a balance between work and personal life can help reduce the amount of stress. Spare time to relax and to do things you enjoy. This will give you a healthy work-life balance and prevent weight gain from stress.

Conclusion

Burning stubborn belly fat requires a combination of a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and effective stress and sleep management. By integrating these strategies into your lifestyle, you can achieve your fat loss goals and improve your overall health. Remember, consistency and patience are key. Always consult with healthcare or fitness professionals before starting any new diet or exercise program to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for your individual needs.

T20 World Cup Victory: BCCI Announces Prize Money for Indian Cricket Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) celebrated the historic T20 World Cup victory of Team India by announcing a monumental bonus for the team. As per the board’s secretary Jay Shah, a whopping INR 125 crore (approximately USD 15 million) is to be given amongst the winning squad.

This generous gesture comes in addition to the ICC’s record prize money for the tournament. India’s pulsating win over South Africa in the Barbados final ensured the champion’s purse of USD 2.45 million, the highest in any men’s T20 World Cup, went into VVS Laxman’s men’s kitty.

The BCCI reward, hence, goes to the most talented, determined, and sportsmanlike values developed by the Indian team throughout their race. It is an award that provides recognition for their efforts on the global platform.

“This bonus reflects our immense appreciation for the incredible achievement of the Team,” said BCCI secretary Jay Shah. “Their victory is not only helpful in uniting the country but has also, through this, cemented India as a powerhouse of T20 cricket.”

The ICC also reworked the share of prize money for the event of the 2024 World Cup, raising the total prize pool for this from USD 5.6 million given in 2022 to USD 11.25 million. All participating teams benefited from this augmentation: South Africa took home USD 1.28 million as the runners-up, while Afghanistan and England received USD 787,500 each as losing semi-finalists.

This was a massive increase in financial rewards for this version of the game, underlining the growing popularity and competitiveness of T20 cricket. It simply shows high regard for this format from the BCCI and ICC through these huge financial rewards.

Afghan women from a crucial UN conference in order to appease the Taliban: 2024

The exclusion of Afghan women from a crucial United Nations conference, purportedly to appease the Taliban, has sparked outrage and been labeled as a betrayal by advocates and international observers. This move has profound implications not only for women’s rights in Afghanistan but also for the credibility of global institutions committed to gender equality and human rights.

Background of the Exclusion

The United Nations convened a significant conference aimed at addressing the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, focusing on humanitarian aid, security, and governance issues. Despite the critical role Afghan women play in these areas, they were notably absent from the conference, raising serious concerns about the inclusivity and effectiveness of the dialogue.

Reaction from Women’s Rights Advocates

Women’s rights advocates worldwide have condemned the decision to exclude Afghan women from the conference. Leading figures in the movement argue that such exclusion undermines the very principles of equality and justice that the UN purports to uphold.

Malalai Joya, a prominent Afghan activist, stated, “Excluding Afghan women from this conference is not just an oversight; it is a deliberate act of erasure. It sends a message that our voices and experiences do not matter.”

Heather Barr, Co-Director of the Women’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch, echoed this sentiment: “The international community’s willingness to sideline Afghan women to appease the Taliban is a betrayal of the promises made to support and empower women in Afghanistan.”

Impact on Afghan Women

Afghan women have been at the forefront of efforts to rebuild their country, often in the face of severe repression and violence. Their exclusion from this conference negates their contributions and perpetuates a cycle of marginalization.

Educational and Economic Impact: The exclusion further jeopardizes the progress made in education and employment for Afghan women. Without representation, the specific needs and challenges faced by women are likely to be overlooked in policy-making and aid distribution.

Security and Protection: Afghan women face unique security threats, including targeted violence and discrimination. Their absence from the conversation diminishes the chances of implementing effective measures to protect them.

International Response

The international response has been mixed. Some countries and organizations have expressed disappointment and called for the inclusion of Afghan women in future discussions. Others have remained silent, possibly indicating tacit approval or prioritizing diplomatic relations over human rights.

United States: The U.S. State Department issued a statement urging the UN to ensure the participation of Afghan women in all future engagements. “Excluding half of the population from discussions on their country’s future is unacceptable,” the statement read.

European Union: The EU’s External Action Service also criticized the move, highlighting the necessity of women’s involvement in peace and security processes as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

The Taliban’s Influence

The Taliban’s influence on the exclusion cannot be overlooked. Since regaining control of Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban has imposed severe restrictions on women, including barring them from secondary education and many forms of employment. Their rigid interpretation of Sharia law severely curtails women’s freedoms and rights.

Appeasement Concerns: Some analysts believe the UN’s decision to exclude women was an attempt to maintain diplomatic channels with the Taliban. However, this approach has been criticized as short-sighted and damaging to long-term efforts for peace and stability.

Call to Action

Women’s rights organizations and activists are calling for immediate action to rectify this exclusion and ensure Afghan women have a seat at the table in all future discussions. They argue that sustainable peace and development in Afghanistan are unattainable without the active participation of women.

Women’s Rights Defender’s Collective: A coalition of women’s rights organizations has launched a campaign urging the UN to revisit its decision and include Afghan women in all relevant forums. They are also calling on member states to pressure the UN and the Taliban to respect women’s rights.

Grassroots Mobilization: Afghan women inside the country are organizing at the grassroots level, using social media and other platforms to raise awareness and demand inclusion. Their resilience and determination continue to inspire global solidarity.

The exclusion of Afghan women from a key UN conference, allegedly to appease the Taliban, is a significant setback for women’s rights and global efforts to support gender equality in Afghanistan. It represents a betrayal of the principles of inclusivity and justice and underscores the need for continued advocacy and pressure to ensure that Afghan women are not sidelined in discussions about their country’s future. The international community must stand firm in its commitment to women’s rights and work towards a future where Afghan women can participate fully and equally in shaping their nation’s destiny.

Psychology Says: 5 Signs Someone is Actually Not a Good Person

Determining the true nature of someone’s character can be challenging. While people often present themselves positively, certain behavioral traits can reveal underlying issues that suggest a lack of genuine goodness. According to psychology, here are five signs that someone may not be as good-hearted as they seem.

Consistent Dishonesty

Behavior: Frequent lying, exaggerating facts, or omitting the truth.

Psychological Insight: Honesty is a fundamental aspect of trust and integrity. A pattern of dishonesty indicates a lack of respect for others and a manipulative personality. According to Dr. Paul Ekman, a psychologist renowned for his work on emotions and deception, chronic liars often rationalize their behavior and may lack empathy, making it difficult for them to form genuine relationships.

Example: A person who constantly makes false promises or changes their story to fit the situation is likely not trustworthy. They might lie to avoid responsibility or to manipulate others for personal gain.

Lack of Empathy

Credit: wikihow

Behavior: Indifference to others’ feelings, inability to understand others’ perspectives, or deriving pleasure from others’ misfortunes.

Psychological Insight: Empathy is crucial for moral development and social bonding. According to research by Simon Baron-Cohen, a professor of developmental psychopathology, individuals with low empathy may have traits associated with antisocial personality disorders. They often fail to recognize or care about the impact of their actions on others.

Example: Someone who dismisses or mocks others’ emotional experiences, or who appears unaffected by the suffering of others, may lack the empathy that characterizes a good person.

Chronic Self-Centeredness

Behavior: Constant need for attention, prioritizing their needs over others, and exhibiting narcissistic traits.

Psychological Insight: Narcissistic personality traits, such as grandiosity, entitlement, and a lack of concern for others, are red flags. Psychologist Dr. Jean Twenge notes that narcissistic individuals often view themselves as superior and expect special treatment, which can lead to exploitative and harmful behaviors toward others.

Example: A person who dominates conversations, disregards others’ opinions, and expects constant admiration may be driven by self-centered motives rather than genuine kindness.

Inconsistent Morality

Behavior: Displaying moral flexibility to suit their needs, justifying unethical actions, and lacking a consistent moral compass.

Psychological Insight: According to Lawrence Kohlberg’s stages of moral development, a person with a well-developed moral sense adheres to ethical principles consistently. Those who adjust their moral standards based on convenience or personal benefit are likely to act unethically when it suits them.

Example: Someone who justifies lying, cheating, or harming others under certain circumstances demonstrates a lack of stable moral principles, indicating potential untrustworthiness.

Frequent Blaming and Refusal to Accept Responsibility

Behavior: Shifting blame to others, making excuses for their actions, and avoiding accountability.

Psychological Insight: Taking responsibility for one’s actions is a sign of maturity and integrity. Psychologists like Dr. Melanie Greenberg emphasize that individuals who constantly blame others or refuse to accept responsibility for their mistakes often exhibit a victim mentality and lack personal accountability.

Example: A person who never admits fault, always has an excuse for their behavior, and consistently blames others for their problems is likely avoiding personal growth and shirking responsibility, traits not associated with a good person.

Recognizing these signs can help you better understand the true nature of those around you. While everyone may exhibit some of these behaviors occasionally, a consistent pattern of dishonesty, lack of empathy, self-centeredness, inconsistent morality, and refusal to accept responsibility suggests a deeper character flaw. By being aware of these psychological insights, you can protect yourself from harmful relationships and foster connections with genuinely good-hearted individuals.

Islamabad court rejects pleas from Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to suspend their sentences in iddat case

An Islamabad district and sessions court has rejected the petitions of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for their sentences to be suspended in the iddat case. Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the verdict, which was reserved on Tuesday. Earlier this month, the Islamabad High Court issued a directive to the session court to announce a decision within 10 days regarding Bushra Bibi’s plea.

Bushra Bibi had moved the IHC against the conviction in the Nikah case in which she and Imran Khan were awarded seven years in jail besides a fine of Rs 500,000 each. PTI would go to the appeal against the rejection of their pleas, announced the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan.

Imran Khan was married to Bushra Bibi in Lahore in February 2018. Only very close relatives and friends were present at the ceremony — but not his sisters. The Nikah was performed by Mufti Saeed; Awn Chaudhry and Zulfi Bukhari were its witnesses.

Khawar Maneka, Bushra Bibi’s former husband, had claimed last year that the marriage was illegal and against Sharia. They had registered a complaint against the “un-Islamic marriage”. It was claimed by them that the couple had been married within the three-month iddat period following Bushra Bibi’s divorce. In February this year, a Pak court sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to seven years imprisonment for the “un-Islamic” iddat case, ordering each of them to pay a fine of Rs 500,000.

The rejection of pleas challenges the court’s decision by upholding the original sentences, and the PTI is going to proceed further with litigation processes. Having significant legal and political implications for the PTI, it has huge public and media attention in Pakistan.

Government announces massive hike expected in petroleum products price

It has been proposed to hike petroleum products prices by up to Rs 8 per litre in Pakistan in the wake of an increase in global oil prices. US crude oil prices rose 3 per cent during the last fortnight, touching $80.25 per barrel, as against the price of London Brent oil, surging over 3.17 per cent to $84.50 per barrel. The revised price hike includes petroleum, diesel, and high-speed diesel (HSD).

It is expected that petrol prices will increase by Rs 8 per litre and those of high-speed diesel by Rs 7 per litre. On the other hand, the Federal government has announced increasing the petroleum levy from Rs 60 per litre to Rs 80 per litre with effect from July 1. The step has been taken as part of consideration of budget 2024-25 and is aimed at linking domestic prices in line with international market trends.

It was previously reduced by Pakistan because of its plunge in the international market. Since May 1, the price of petrol has reduced by about Rs 35 per litre, from about Rs 294 per litre on April 30 to about Rs 259 per litre. The prices for HSD have also gone down by about Rs 22 per litre from over Rs 290 in mid-April to Rs 268.

The Finance Bill 2024 increased the PDL limit to Rs 80 per litre. The Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, said that the PDL would be increased in a graded manner depending on the prevailing pricing trend. So, it is foreseeable that the government, with this proposal, would equalize the ongoing prices of domestic fuel with international markets in order to maintain economic stability against the falling and rising trends in oil prices.

Yango Pakistan Enhances Safety Features for Pakistan Safety Awareness Month

In celebration of “Pakistan Safety Awareness Month”, International ride-hailing service Yango, part of global tech company Yango is introducing an extensive range of advanced safety features that will protect both drivers and passengers. These enhancements demonstrate Yango’s unwavering commitment to delivering a secure and reliable ride-hailing experience.

As part of the safety campaign, Yango requires drivers to upload a profile photo during registration. This allows passengers to verify the driver’s identity by comparing the photo in the app with the driver who arrives. Drivers must also upload photos of their driver’s licence and car. These documents are thoroughly checked, and drivers can only start accepting orders once they pass the verification process.

Available in the passenger’s app, the Safety Center provides several critical safety features, including an SOS button for emergencies, a Share Route button for real-time trip sharing, and an Emergency Situation button for additional support. Passengers can add trusted contacts and choose how frequently ride details are shared with them. This ensures that someone always knows the passenger’s location during a ride. In case of an emergency, passengers can use the SOS button to contact local authorities directly from the app for immediate assistance.

Passengers can share detailed trip information, such as the route, driver’s name, and car plate number, with their contacts, providing an additional layer of security. Passengers can also view the driver’s rating, which is based on feedback from other passengers, helping them choose drivers with higher ratings for a safer ride experience.

When a driver accepts a booking, they can view the passenger’s rating based on feedback from other drivers. Additionally, after each trip, drivers can fill out a rating form to provide feedback on the passenger, helping maintain a respectful and safe environment. When accepting an order, drivers can see the passenger’s name, allowing for easier identification and communication.

Yango has a dedicated Support Incident Team to address any conflicts or urgent issues between drivers and passengers. This team provides 24/7 assistance and is specially trained to handle sensitive situations, ensuring that drivers feel supported and protected.

Yango Pakistan’s comprehensive safety features are a testament to its commitment to protecting both drivers and passengers. By implementing these measures, Yango continues to set the standard for safety in the ride-hailing industry, ensuring a secure and reliable experience for all users. Jennifer Lopez, 54, shared her excitement over the news on Instagram on Tuesday, posting a screenshot of the report, adding a “Can’t-Wait!” sticker, and leaving Goldsmith-Thomas’ caption, which originally expressed excitement at the news of getting to work with the talented author.

Happy Place” is a novel published in 2023 and is about the story of two friends, Harriet and Wyn, since college. Having broken up six months ago, they don’t feel quite ready yet to inform the rest of their closest friends of it. The story goes on to follow through as they realize they are far from over each other and continue lying about their breakup. This is an interesting story just itching to be brought to life by Lopez and her production crew.

In 2001, Nuyorican Productions was co-founded by Lopez and her ex-manager, Benny Medina. Though, shortly after the formation, Medina left the company. This did not deter Lopez from handling the reins of the company as Principal. Currently, President to the company is Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. The first production of Nuyorican Productions was “El Cantante” in 2006, which marked the beginning of its remarkable journey.

With all that drama going on in her personal life, Lopez seems to be focusing on her career as she prepares to star in “Happy Place,” showing just how talented and committed she is as an actress. She’s finishing work on her next film, “Unstoppable,” which she has produced with the company of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Artists Equity.

Lopez has just finished the promotional tour for her Netflix film “Atlas,” which swept the world. In her email to her followers on June 5, Lopez thanked them for making “Atlas” No. 1 globally and expressed her gratitude for the love and light from her fans amidst the sea of negativity. She did not deny that there might be some bad apples out there but said that there were much more positive, sane people in this world.

Her fans were also encouraged by Jennifer Lopez’s work ethic, which never seems to be deterred by personal tribulations. Professional pursuits, like the “Happy Place” adaptation and the success of “Atlas,” have shown she doesn’t stop when it comes to storytelling and entertainment. This holds a mix of personal and professional developments that assures a keeling over into the trending and development of her as a truly cherished figure in the entertainment business.

Iddat Case: All Eyes on Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan Today

An Additional District and Sessions Court is likely to pronounce its reserved verdict on Thursday on the pleas by former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, for the suspension of their sentences in the iddat case. The decision would be announced by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka after going through all the available evidence and arguments advanced by the parties. Most likely, the judgment would come at 3 PM.

What is the Iddat Case?

During the last hearing, counsels Salman Safdar and Zahid Asif Chaudhry appeared for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, and Khawar Maneka, respectively. Earlier this month, the Islamabad High Court directed the session court to announce the verdict on the plea of Bushra Bibi within ten days. Bushra Bibi has appealed before the IHC against her conviction in the Iddat case, wherein she and Imran Khan were sentenced to seven years in jail besides being fined Rs 500,000 each.

The marriage between Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi took place in February 2018 in a low-key private ceremony with only close relatives and friends present at a residence in Lahore. The nikkah was performed by Mufti Saeed. The former PTI leader Awn Chaudhary and the former SAPM Zulfi Bukhari acted as witnesses. Khawar Maneka, Bushra Bibi’s former husband, has said it was an illegal marriage and against Sharia laws of Islam. He accused the couple of marrying during the three-month “iddat period” following Bushra Bibi’s divorce and also accused them of fornication.

Tied to allegations of an ‘un-Islamic’ marriage during the iddat period, the case holds great legal and social repercussions. A verdict was kept reserved in the iddat case by Judge Qudratullah, and huge media hype is given to it in Pakistan. But at a time when the announcement is highly awaited by both supporters and critics of Imran Khan,.

This verdict has been long-awaited, and legal teams belonging to both sides have indefatigably worked towards this moment. What gives more credibility to the case is the involvement of the Islamabad High Court. This decision shall decide the political and personal lives of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi; hence, it would deal with an intensely important moment in Pakistan’s legal-political circles.

T20 World Cup 2024: Semifinal qualification scenario for Australia after losing to India

Australia’s T20 World Cup dreams hang by a thread after a crushing 24-run defeat to India in their final Super 8 match. The victory secures India’s place in the semi-finals but leaves Group 1 wide open for the remaining spot. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and even the defeated Australians still have a chance to join India in the next stage.

India put up a formidable total of 205/5 on the board, with Rohit Sharma leading the charge with a blistering 92 off just 41 balls. While the Australian bowlers were expensive, Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis managed to pick up two wickets each. However, India’s bowlers, particularly Arshdeep Singh (3/37) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/24), stifled the Australian chase, restricting them to 181/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

So, can Australia still salvage their World Cup campaign? The answer depends entirely on the outcome of the final Super 8 match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. A win for Afghanistan automatically qualifies them for the semi-finals. However, Bangladesh’s path is considerably more complex.

For Bangladesh to snatch the second semi-final spot, they need a mammoth victory against Afghanistan. Batting first, they need to win by a staggering margin of at least 62 runs. If they choose to bowl first, Bangladesh must restrict Afghanistan to a score below 110 in 12 overs or 130 in 12.2 overs, with the required score increasing with each additional over.

However, Australia can still find a way into the semi-finals if Bangladesh manage to win. The key lies in the margin of Bangladesh’s victory. If Bangladesh win by a smaller margin, the qualification scenario gets even more intriguing. In a scenario where Bangladesh win by exactly 61 runs, both teams will end up with the same net run rate. In such a case, Australia will qualify based on their head-to-head win over Bangladesh in the Super 8 stage.

The final match in Group 1 promises to be a high-stakes thriller. While Afghanistan will be aiming for a straightforward win, Bangladesh will need to pull off a near-miracle victory with a specific run rate requirement

India defeat Australia to qualify for T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal

India booked their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal with a convincing 24-run victory over Australia in a high-octane Super Eight clash. Chasing a mammoth 206-run target, Australia fell short, managing only 181 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Rohit Sharma was once again the star for India, smashing a blistering 92 off just 41 deliveries. His knock, laced with seven fours and eight sixes, laid the foundation for India’s strong total. Suryakumar Yadav provided valuable support with a quickfire 31 off 16 balls. While the Australian bowlers were expensive, Mitchell Starc (2-45) and Marcus Stoinis (2-56) managed to pick up two wickets apiece. Josh Hazlewood, however, was the standout with a miserly spell of 1/14 in his four overs.

Australia’s chase started brightly with Travis Head scoring a valiant 76 off 43 balls, but wickets fell at regular intervals, leaving them with too much to do in the end. Mitchell Marsh chipped in with a 37-run knock, but the rest of the batting order failed to fire. Arshdeep Singh (3/37) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/24) were the pick of the Indian bowlers, effectively stifling the Australian chase.

T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal scenario

With this win, India not only secured their semi-final spot but also potentially eliminated a major contender in Australia. The result now throws the qualification race in Group 1 wide open. Afghanistan’s fate rests on their final Super Eight match against Bangladesh. A win for Afghanistan will see them through to the semis.

However, Bangladesh’s qualification scenario is a complex one. They need a win by a significant margin to pip Afghanistan based on net run rate. Batting first, they need a win by at least 62 runs. If they bowl first, they need to restrict Afghanistan to a score below 110 in 12 overs or 130 in 12.2 overs, and so on for each additional over.

Australia, however, can still sneak into the semi-finals if Bangladesh win, but by a smaller margin. If Bangladesh win by exactly 61 runs, both teams will have the same net run rate, but Australia will qualify on the basis of their head-to-head win over Bangladesh in the Super Eight stage.

The final match in Group 1 promises to be a tense affair with high stakes for all three teams involved. The cricketing world will be eagerly watching to see who emerges victorious and joins South Africa and England in the semi-finals.

Shaheen Afridi will receive £5,000 without playing in The Hundred

Shaheen Afridi, a premier fast bowler from Pakistan, was re-signed by Welsh Fire for The Hundred in the £100,000 category, the second-highest tier in the competition. Afridi had participated in six matches for Welsh Fire in the 2023 season, making a significant impact with his formidable pace and skill.

However, Afridi recently withdrew from the 2024 season of The Hundred, a decision that came amid growing interest from the Global T20 Canada. The Global T20 Canada, running from July 25 to August 11, coincides almost exactly with The Hundred, which is scheduled from July 23 to August 18. Afridi’s withdrawal underscores the challenges and financial dynamics of modern cricket, where players often juggle commitments across multiple leagues and formats.

Shaheen Afridi will receive £5,000 for his image rights without playing in The Hundred

Despite his withdrawal, Afridi’s financial ties with The Hundred are not entirely severed. Players in The Hundred are entitled to five percent of their contract value for image rights, meaning Afridi will still receive £5,000 for his image rights without playing in the tournament. This amount represents five percent of his £100,000 contract, highlighting how The Hundred’s structure allows players to benefit financially even if they do not participate.

Afridi’s decision to prioritize the Global T20 over The Hundred reflects the increasing allure of T20 leagues worldwide. These leagues offer lucrative contracts and significant global exposure, making them attractive for top-tier cricketers. The GT20, in particular, provides both financial incentives and broad visibility, contributing to its appeal for players like Afridi.

Cryptocurrencies experience their second-worst weekly drop of 2024

Cryptocurrencies experienced their second-worst weekly drop of 2024, driven by diminished interest in Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The top 100 cryptocurrencies fell by 5 percent over the past week, marking the market’s steepest decline since April. Bitcoin’s price dropped below $63,000 on Monday, reaching its lowest point since May.

The crypto market has been declining for six consecutive days, largely due to uncertainty about potential Federal Reserve interest rate cuts. Investor demand has plummeted as many hold off on purchases, awaiting clearer signals from the Federal Reserve. The current market slump is characterized by low volatility, soft trading volumes, and unbalanced order books at price range boundaries.

Ethereum (ETH) and Solana have experienced significant devaluations. ETH is on its longest weekly decline streak since 2023, while Solana is undergoing its worst downturn since 2022, despite previously being a favorite among digital-asset hedge funds. Bitcoin, which hit an all-time high of $73,798 in March, has underperformed compared to traditional assets like stocks, bonds, and gold this quarter. As of the latest report, Bitcoin was down 3.14 percent and trading at $62,375.
