Caretaker Minister Aneeq Ahmed has announced the successful completion of the balloting process for the upcoming Hajj 2024 in Pakistan. Out of 69,438 applications received under the Regular Hajj Scheme, 63,805 applicants have been declared successful, marking a significant effort to reduce the Hajj package cost by Rs 100,000. A waiting list has been prepared for the 5,633 unsuccessful applicants, and they may be selected if intending pilgrims from their respective cities withdraw their Hajj applications.
Notification of the application status will be communicated through mobile SMS, the official website, or a dedicated mobile app. The Sponsorship Scheme is set to continue until Sunday, providing additional opportunities for interested individuals. Minister Aneeq Ahmed emphasized the facilitation of a short Hajj for the first time in Pakistan, aiming to enhance the overall experience for pilgrims.
Among the applicants, 56 per cent are women, and 44 per cent are men. Each pilgrim will receive a suitcase equipped with a QR code to prevent the loss of belongings and a generous 7 GB data bundle will be provided to every pilgrim.
