The Pakistan Railways has decided to operate multiple trains on the public-private partnership model with the objective of increasing facilities for passengers and making their revenue stream more stable. According to a Pakistan Railways spokesperson, this strategic move is undertaken to render a world-class travel experience to passengers, enhance the organization’s financial health, and put it at par with other developed railways in the world.
Which Trains are Included in Public-Private Partnership Model?
Major trains involved in this campaign are Karakoram Express, Karachi Express, Mohenjo Daro Express, Mehr Express, Thal Express, Hazara Express, Green Line, Bolan Mail, Attock Express, Awam Express, Sukkur Express, Pak Business, Saman Sarkar Express, Jand Express, Marvi Express, Shalimar Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Chenab Express, Chaman Express, Mehran Express, Kohat Express, and Rawalpindi Express.
CEO Amir Ali Baloch reaffirmed the zeal to enhance facilities for passengers under the PPP mode. “We want to give our passengers a never-before travel experience,” he said, enumerating various up-gradation works underway. These remodelled dining cars were introduced with premium amenities in trains Tezgam and Zakariya Express, to ensure that the passengers have excellent cuisine on their travel.
Besides, the facility of executive toilets has already received a positive response at the Lahore Railway Station. This would be extended to all major stations in the country within a period of three months, ensuring uniformity and quality in passenger experience throughout the network.
