The Government of Pakistan has announced a fresh reduction in fuel prices, offering relief to consumers across the country. According to the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the prices of major petroleum products have been revised downward.
The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs5.66 per litre, while high-speed diesel has seen a decrease of Rs1.39 per litre. In addition, the government also announced cuts in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil, lowering them by Rs3.26 and Rs2.72 per litre, respectively.
With the new adjustment, petrol now costs Rs263.20 per litre, whereas high-speed diesel is priced at Rs275.41 per litre. The revised rates have taken effect immediately, following the official notification.
This move aims to ease the financial burden on citizens amid fluctuating international oil prices and inflationary pressures. The government regularly reviews fuel prices in line with global oil market trends and the exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.
Economic analysts note that the latest price reduction may help stabilize transportation costs and bring marginal relief in commodity prices. However, they also caution that future adjustments will depend on global oil demand, geopolitical developments, and supply chain dynamics.
Consumers have welcomed the decrease, expressing hope that the downward trend continues in the coming weeks. For now, the reduction in fuel rates provides much-needed relief as the cost of living continues to challenge households and businesses alike.
