P&G Pakistan, a leading global consumer goods company, has been named the Champion of 2022 at the annual OICCI Women Empowerment Awards. The award ceremony was held at the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (OICCI) HQ in recognition of P&G’s efforts towards promoting diversity and gender equality in the workplace.
The OICCI, which represents over 200 members from 35 different countries and 14 different sectors of trade and industry, launched the OICCI Women initiative to encourage member companies to become role models for empowering women in the workforce and creating gender equality within their respective organizations.
P&G Pakistan has been actively working towards promoting gender equality and diversity in the workplace for a long time. The company has been advocating for gender equality and tackling gender bias, removing barriers to education for girls, creating economic opportunities for women, and advocating for gender and intersectional equality in workplaces everywhere.
SVP and CEO of P&G Pakistan, Adil Farhat, expressed his pride in receiving the prestigious award and thanked the OICCI for recognizing the company’s efforts in empowering women in the country. He also added that P&G will continue its mission to achieve an equitable and inclusive world for everyone.
P&G Pakistan has several initiatives in place to fulfil its equality and inclusion mission. The company ensures fair and just working opportunities for everyone, with a special focus on recruiting and advancing a diverse workforce. Women constitute almost 46% of the employees at the P&G head office in Karachi, with seven top function leaders being women.
P&G Pakistan has also partnered with Health Oriented Preventive Education (HOPE) and READ Foundation to provide quality education to underprivileged girls in Pakistan. Additionally, the company has joined forces with STEMconnector to encourage girls and women to pursue STEM careers.
