Pakistan International Airlines has announced its limited-time offer that will come with a 15% discount on Pakistan-bound flights from Toronto. The offer is open to travelers who purchase tickets before 15 October 2024 and travel up till 20 December 2024. The airline aims to increase travel between Pakistan and Canada, thus supporting both tourists in saving money from the rising costs.
This reflects a more general thrust to promote international travel and tourism for the benefit of the masses. The airline, hence, is interested in offering cheaper fares and in pursuing and taking chances to strengthen the links between two countries.
In other developments, the privatization process of PIA is delayed as requests for more information were made by potential bidders. Thus, the deadline has been pushed further back to October 31, 2024 for the privatization bids.
The officials tasked to handle the case, with key discussions reportedly carried out during the recent Senate Standing Committee on Privatization, reaffirmed on-going problems including some legacy liabilities and negotiations with bidders. The chairperson had informed regarding the delays but remains upbeat about positive results as she was able to set an optimistic goal to conclude privatization as per the assigned schedule.
In a nutshell, PIA’s future seems to be at crossroads because the airline seems to be torn between its perceived capability to provide competitive services while trying to grapple through confusing privatization efforts.
