Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Turkiye today to show solidarity and support with the Turkish government and its people.
During his two-day visit to Ankara, Turkiye, Sharif will meet President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and convey heartfelt condolences on behalf of his nation over the losses incurred by recent devastating earthquakes.
Sharif will also visit earthquake affected areas in Southern Turkiye and meet the Pakistani rescue teams deployed in those areas.
The prime minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to stand by Turkiye and its people during difficult times and to continue extending this support.
Sharif had already spoken to the President of Turkiye Erdogan on February 6th and assured all possible support for the search and rescue operations.
Turkiye was hit by a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on February 6th. The tremors were so powerful, they caused a lot of human and financial loss in Southern Turkiye, Syria and Lebanon. The death toll in Turkiye and Syria have already crossed 41,000, out of which 35,3418 people have died in Turkiye only.
The weather condition in quake-hit areas is very cold,adding to the difficulties of rescue teams. With every passing day, the hopes for survivors are diminishing.
Turkish President initially acknowledged the problems they are facing post quakes, however, the situation is very much under control now.
