President Asif Ali Zardari has chosen not to accept a salary during his second term in office, citing the pressing economic challenges facing Pakistan. This decision, aimed at promoting responsible financial management within the country, was confirmed through a press release from the President’s Secretariat.

“The President considered it essential not to burden the national exchequer and preferred to forgo his salary,” the press release added.

Zardari secured his reelection as Pakistan’s President, defeating Mahmood Khan Achakzai in a closely contested race. As a result, his daughter, Aseefa Bhutto, is set to assume the role of Pakistan’s First Lady, as confirmed by PPP Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi.

An official announcement regarding Aseefa Bhutto’s appointment is expected imminently. Reflecting on her journey from accompanying her father to court hearings to her forthcoming role as First Lady, Aseefa Bhutto expresses her dedication to serve the nation.

Joining in the spirit of service, Mohsin Naqvi, the newly appointed Federal Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, has also chosen to waive his salary, aligning with his commitment to national duty during challenging times.

These gestures, including President Zardari’s salary forfeiture, are seen as symbolic measures towards easing the burden on the national exchequer and promoting fiscal responsibility. The decision has sparked discussions on various social media platforms, with many highlighting the significance of the Bhutto family legacy and the commitment to prudent financial management amidst economic adversity.
