Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Inaugurates Inclusive Welfare Initiative
The Punjab government has introduced a free meal program for special students across the province, marking a significant step toward inclusive education and social welfare. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially launched the initiative in Lahore, emphasizing the government’s dedication to supporting differently-abled children.
During the ceremony, CM Maryam praised special children as “our heroes” and commended the Special Education Department for establishing Centres of Excellence in 28 districts. The program ensures that students enrolled in special education institutions receive nutritious meals during school hours, alongside improved learning facilities.
Rebuilding and Expanding Special Education Infrastructure
Punjab currently operates 303 special education institutions, all of which are slated for reconstruction and modernization under the new reforms. The initiative aims to provide a more supportive and accessible environment for students with disabilities, ensuring they receive quality education and proper nutrition.
The free meal program is part of a broader effort to enhance social welfare policies for vulnerable groups. By addressing both educational and nutritional needs, the Punjab government seeks to empower special students and promote their long-term well-being.
