Rs. 1.8 Billion Approved for VVIP Aircraft of Pakistan’s President and PM

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) recently approved a supplementary grant of Rs. 1.8 billion to refurbish the engines of VVIP aircraft used by Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister. This funding is allocated for essential maintenance to ensure the operational readiness and safety of the aircraft, which are used for state functions and diplomatic missions. The ECC’s decision underscores the importance of reliable and secure transportation for high-level government officials representing Pakistan internationally.

This decision, however, has sparked some public debate, with concerns raised regarding the allocation of such a substantial sum in a time of economic challenges. Nonetheless, government representatives have clarified that the maintenance of these aircraft is critical for safe and reliable travel, particularly for international engagements that represent Pakistan on the global stage.

The approved funds will be administered by the Ministry of Defence, which oversees the upkeep and readiness of the VVIP fleet.
