Shruti Seth Breaks Silence on Ban of Pakistani Artists — Recalls Iconic Moments with Shakeel Siddiqui
Indian television star Shruti Seth has opened up about the ongoing ban on Pakistani artists in India, saying that art should never be confined by political boundaries.
In a recent podcast, the Shararat and Baalveer actor looked back on her time sharing the stage with Pakistan’s legendary comedian Shakeel Siddiqui. The two worked together on popular shows including Comedy Circus and Comedy Nights Bachao, where their effortless chemistry won fans across borders.
“It Was Pure Improvisation”
Seth revealed that their comedy acts were never scripted but created on the spot. “Even now, wherever I travel, people still talk about those performances with Shakeel. They were completely improvised and that’s what made them special,” she shared.
Siddiqui’s quick wit and charm made him a household name in India before the ban on Pakistani artists cut short many such collaborations.
Art vs. Politics
Reflecting on the restrictions that keep Pakistani talent out of India’s entertainment industry, Seth said, “The world right now is run by politics, so I can’t say much on that front. But I truly believe art should have no borders.”
She added that throughout history, creativity has been a source of healing during times of conflict. “Art builds bonds, spreads love, and encourages acceptance. It has always saved us, and I hope it will continue to do so in the future.”
Her comments have reignited debate over whether cultural exchange between India and Pakistan should remain untouched by political tensions, especially given the shared entertainment heritage cherished by audiences on both sides.
