Sindh CM Awards Rs50 Million Cheque and Ajrak to Olympian Arshad Nadeem

KARACHI: In a celebratory event on Thursday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah honored Olympian Arshad Nadeem with a Rs50 million cheque, along with the traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi, in recognition of his remarkable gold medal win in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem made history at the Paris Olympics by securing the gold medal in the javelin throw event with a record-breaking distance of 92.97 meters, edging out India’s Neeraj Chopra, who took the silver.

During his visit to the Sindh CM House, which was arranged at the invitation of Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister personally handed over the Rs50 million cheque to Nadeem. Additionally, the CM announced a Rs5 million reward for Nadeem’s coach, acknowledging the vital role played by his mentor in this monumental achievement.

Expressing his gratitude, Arshad Nadeem thanked the Sindh Chief Minister for the generous recognition and support. Nadeem remarked that Shah was the first to congratulate him even before he had officially received his medal, highlighting the chief minister’s genuine enthusiasm for his victory.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, speaking on behalf of the Sindh government and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, extended full support to Arshad Nadeem in his future endeavors, emphasizing the government’s commitment to nurturing and celebrating the country’s sports talent.

The event also saw participation from Sindh Sports Minister Muhammad Bux Mahar, who presented an additional cheque to Arshad Nadeem from his personal funds. Saeed Ghani, the Minister for Local Bodies, made a significant announcement, revealing that a road in Karachi would be named after the javelin throw star, immortalizing his contributions to Pakistani sports.

The celebration of Arshad Nadeem’s victory extended beyond the Sindh CM House. Earlier, on August 14, the Sindh Governor also hosted Nadeem at the Governor’s House, acknowledging his exceptional performance on the international stage and his role in bringing honor to Pakistan.

This series of accolades and awards underscores the nation’s pride in Arshad Nadeem’s achievement and marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s sporting history, as the country continues to celebrate its champions who bring glory to the nation on the world stage.
