In order to make traveling safer for women, the Sindh government has decided to hire female drivers for the pink bus service.
The decision was taken in the tenth board meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority which was chaired by Minister for Information and Transport, Sindh, Sharjeel Memon.
In the meeting, it was also decided that a comprehensive training program will be designed for these newly appointed drivers so that they can drive efficiently.
Initially, the Pink bus service will go from Model Colony to Tower, however, it will further expand to other routes in the future.
The fare for the pink bus is Rs 50 and has two dedicated spaces available for people with special needs who can travel for free. Moreover, children under the age of 5 can also travel for free on these buses.
