Sindh Govt Announces Rs50 Million Reward for Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem

The Sindh government has announced a Rs50 million reward for Pakistan’s star athlete Arshad Nadeem, following his historic gold medal win in the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024. This marks Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medal, a monumental achievement that has brought immense pride to the nation.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab made the announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing his admiration for Nadeem’s extraordinary accomplishment. “Congratulations Arshad. Fortunate to have witnessed this historic moment with the public. Gold medal for Pakistan in Olympics after 40 years. PPP’s Sindh Govt will give Rs 5 Crore to Arshad,” Wahab tweeted. He also revealed plans to establish the “Arshad Nadeem Athletics Academy” in Karachi under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), aiming to nurture future athletes inspired by Nadeem’s success.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also joined in the national celebration, congratulating the nation on Arshad Nadeem’s historic victory. The prime minister described Nadeem’s achievement as a gift to the people of Pakistan, highlighting it as a proud moment in the country’s sports history. “Arshad Nadeem has become a symbol of national pride and inspiration for future generations,” the premier remarked.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari also lauded Arshad Nadeem’s remarkable feat, declaring him the pride of the entire nation. In his message, Zardari emphasized the significance of this victory, not just for Nadeem but for the whole country.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs, extended their warmest congratulations to the nation on this momentous occasion. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted that this remarkable achievement is a testament to Nadeem’s unwavering dedication, unrelenting perseverance, and exemplary hard work.
