The Sindh government has taken a big step towards empowering women in Pakistan by launching the country’s first Pink Peoples Bus Service in Karachi. Exclusively for women, this bus service aims to provide safe and affordable transportation options to women who have been denied these privileges until now.
The launch of the pink bus service was presided over by Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. In a statement to the media, he said that the pink buses will run from Model Colony Malir to the Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal during working hours in the morning and evening, with a frequency of every 20 minutes. For the rest of the day, the buses will run every hour.
To begin with, four pink buses will be made operational on the first route in the city. Minister Memon emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring women’s safety and enabling them to travel with ease and comfort.
