According to the official data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released on Friday, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) revealed a 1.30% year-on-year increase in weekly inflation for the week ending on August 3.
During this period, the SPI for the mentioned week was recorded at 271.56 points, compared to 268.08 points in the previous week, as per the PBS data. Out of the 51 monitored items, 23 items experienced an increase in average prices, 7 items saw a decrease, and 21 items remained unchanged.
Notably, the average prices of several items rose significantly on a week-on-week (WoW) basis, including Wheat Flour (131.40%), Cigarettes (109.57%), Gas Charges for Q1 (108.38%), Tea Lipton (97.71%), and others. However, some items recorded a decrease in prices, such as Onions (37.10%), Electricity for Q1 (18.06%), and more.
