A Pakistan Army soldier has been declared a martyr following a clash near the Afghanistan border, according to ARY News quoting ISPR. In the encounter near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Batwar, Bajaur district, security forces engaged with three terrorists attempting to infiltrate the border, resulting in their neutralization. The terrorists were found with a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
In a separate incident on the night of December 30/31, terrorists from Afghanistan targeted a Pakistani border post in Spinwam, North Waziristan district. The Pakistan Army retaliated effectively, causing substantial losses to the attackers. Naik Abdul Rauf, a 31-year-old soldier from Rahim Yar Khan district, fought gallantly but succumbed to injuries, embracing martyrdom.
The exchange of fire resulted in a significant setback for the terrorists. The ISPR emphasizes Pakistan’s consistent calls for the Interim Afghan Government to enhance border management, highlighting the Afghan Taliban’s obligation to prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan. These incidents underscore the challenges of border security and the persistent regional threat of terrorism.
The Pakistan Army’s resolute response demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding borders and citizens in the face of increased terror activities, particularly following the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s termination of its ceasefire with the government in November.
