The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing to introduce an advanced fleet of AI-powered inspection vehicles that will detect visit and work permit violators in real-time. The initiative, announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), was unveiled at GITEX Global 2025, held from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The newly developed ICP Inspection Car represents a major leap in the country’s use of artificial intelligence for law enforcement and public administration. These vehicles, powered entirely by clean energy, can travel up to 680 kilometres per charge, combining environmental sustainability with cutting-edge functionality.

Revolutionizing Field Inspections
The AI inspection cars are designed to modernize and automate field inspections across the UAE. Equipped with six high-resolution cameras, the vehicles provide 360-degree surveillance coverage, with visual monitoring extending up to 10 metres in all directions. The system operates flawlessly under varying weather and lighting conditions — including dust storms, extreme heat, and nighttime operations — ensuring uninterrupted service across the country’s challenging terrains.

By integrating facial recognition and machine learning algorithms, the vehicles can instantly identify individuals violating visa or residency laws. Real-time data analysis allows inspection officers to act immediately, significantly reducing reliance on manual verification processes.

Inside the car, inspectors are supported by digital dashboards connected to ICP’s national database. When the system identifies a match, it triggers an instant alert, allowing rapid action while ensuring data security and operational efficiency.

Smart Governance and AI Integration
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, called the project a “revolutionary step in field inspection methods.” He stated, “Our goal is to empower inspection teams with intelligent tools to manage violations swiftly, securely, and efficiently, while advancing the UAE’s readiness in governance and public safety.”

Alongside the inspection cars, ICP unveiled four new AI innovations aimed at strengthening smart governance and public service:

  • Smart Faceprint: A digital identity platform designed for seamless travel, secure transactions, and instant verification across sectors.
  • Smart Contact Centre: A multilingual AI-powered voice system capable of handling over 20,000 daily queries without human operators.
  • Domestic Worker Services Package: A unified digital platform enabling users to complete all visa, residency, and medical procedures for domestic staff through a single interface.
  • AI Efficiency Tools: Advanced analytics platforms that improve operational precision and service quality across departments.

Major General Al Khaili emphasized that these initiatives were developed entirely by Emirati talent, aligning with the UAE’s vision of becoming a global leader in AI-driven governance. “Each project reflects our commitment to a smarter, more responsive public service ecosystem,” he said.

With the rollout of AI-powered inspection vehicles, the UAE continues to set new benchmarks in security, sustainability, and smart administration, reaffirming its leadership in digital transformation across the region.
