Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif claimed on October 19, 2024, that the party had the required numbers to form the next government, despite reservations from key political players, including the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI). Asif’s remarks came during an exclusive interview with the media, where he discussed the ongoing political wrangling ahead of the general elections.

Asif asserted that while some parties may not be fully on board with PML-N’s agenda, his party had successfully built enough support to move forward. “We are confident about our position. Even if some parties, like JUI, have their differences, we have the numbers to push through important legislation and form a stable government,” Asif said.

The remarks have sparked discussions within political circles, as JUI’s position could be crucial in determining the outcome of coalition-building efforts. The PML-N is currently engaged in negotiations with various parties to secure its leadership role in the next government, especially as tensions rise over electoral alliances.
