Reference rates, bank rates and open market rates
This calculator gives an indicative estimate. It does not quote a bank’s buying or selling rate, an exchange company’s open market rate, or a guaranteed money transfer rate. Compare your provider’s actual exchange rate and fees before you send or exchange money.
For a remittance, compare the final PKR amount the recipient will receive, after conversion and any applicable charges. For a travel budget, ask whether your quoted rate is for cash, a card payment or a bank transfer. These services can price currency differently.
Where the exchange rates come from
Rates are supplied by ExchangeRate-API’s open access service, which updates once daily. The converter displays the provider’s rate timestamp in Pakistan Standard Time. Trending Pakistan caches the response and normally checks for a new snapshot within six hours, so it is not an intraday trading feed.
Cross-currency estimates use a single USD-based snapshot: converted amount = amount × destination rate ÷ source rate. Most results are rounded to two decimal places; Japanese yen results use zero, and Kuwaiti dinar results use three. Reference rates in the table show additional decimal places. Very small results are labelled below the smallest displayed unit.
If an update fails, the calculator can use its last saved snapshot and show a notice. Rates more than 48 hours old are marked, and snapshots more than seven days old are not used for new calculations. For official Pakistani exchange rate publications, visit the State Bank of Pakistan. This converter does not claim to reproduce SBP’s official rate series.
Currency converter questions
How much is 1 USD in Pakistani rupees?
Read the USD to PKR row in the reference table above, or enter 1 with USD under From and PKR under To. Check the displayed date before comparing the figure with a bank or money transfer quote.
Can I convert UAE dirhams or Saudi riyals to PKR?
Yes. Choose AED for UAE dirhams or SAR for Saudi riyals, then select PKR. Use the same method for British pounds, euros and the other supported currencies. The table of common amounts changes with your selected pair.
Why is my bank’s exchange rate different?
A bank or exchange company may quote separate buying and selling rates, include a margin, charge fees or update its quote at a different time. Use the calculator for an estimate and ask your provider for the actual amount payable or receivable.
Is the currency converter free to use?
Yes. No account is required to calculate an estimate. The converter does not send money or carry out foreign exchange transactions.
