Umrah Vaccination Certificate Pakistan 2026: Karachi Grace Period Ends October 10

Pakistanis travelling for Umrah from Karachi should prepare for stricter vaccination-document checks as the temporary grace period allowing travel without the new digital vaccination certificate runs through October 10, 2026.

Border Health Services had extended the exemption to give travellers additional time to complete vaccination and registration arrangements. After the grace period, passengers should carry the required NADRA-integrated digital vaccination proof when travelling from Karachi for Umrah.

The requirement is also being introduced at Peshawar Airport from October 15, with passengers permitted to travel without the certificate through October 14.

What Vaccination Certificate Is Required?

Authorities have moved toward a NADRA-integrated digital vaccination record rather than relying only on ordinary paper vaccination cards.

The digital record links the passenger’s vaccination information with their identity details, making verification easier for airport and health authorities.

Travellers should therefore make sure they have the officially accepted digital certificate rather than assuming that a handwritten clinic card or vaccination slip will be sufficient.

Which Vaccines Are Required?

The vaccination framework announced for Saudi-bound travellers covers vaccines including:

  • meningitis;
  • influenza;
  • polio; and
  • yellow fever where applicable.

For ordinary Umrah travel, meningitis and influenza are among the most relevant requirements under the current Pakistan-side arrangements. Travellers should also verify Saudi Arabia’s current health requirements for their individual journey.

Karachi Airport Deadline

Umrah passengers departing through Karachi were allowed to travel without the new vaccination documentation until:

October 10, 2026

The temporary exemption had already been extended several times to give travellers more opportunity to complete vaccination and digital registration.

Passengers travelling after the grace period should therefore not assume that the previous exemption is still available.

Peshawar Airport Deadline

For Peshawar, the announced timetable is different.

The digital vaccination certificate becomes mandatory from:

October 15, 2026

Umrah pilgrims and relevant Saudi-bound passengers from Peshawar can travel without it through October 14 under the announced grace period.

Where Can Karachi Passengers Get Vaccinated?

Vaccination facilities have been established for international travellers in Karachi, including facilities connected with the Federal Civil Dispensary near the Old Terminal.

NADRA facilitation counters have also been set up to help travellers complete the digital registration process.

Authorities have advised passengers not to leave vaccination until the last moment.

How Early Should You Get Vaccinated?

Health officials have advised passengers to complete required vaccination approximately 10 days before travel where possible.

This is particularly important for meningococcal vaccination because health requirements can specify a minimum period between vaccination and arrival.

Passengers with imminent flights should contact the relevant airline, authorised vaccination centre or Border Health Services for current instructions.

Can You Get Vaccinated at Karachi Airport?

Airport vaccination and registration facilities have been arranged to assist international travellers.

However, passengers relying on airport facilities can face queues and delays.

Earlier guidance advised passengers requiring last-minute vaccination services to arrive substantially earlier than normal airport reporting time.

It is safer to complete the requirement before travelling to the airport whenever possible.

Is PakID Involved?

NADRA’s PakID ecosystem has increasingly been used to support digital verification of identity-related certificates.

Trending Pakistan recently reported that PakID 5.8.0 added biometric-verification functionality associated with influenza and meningitis vaccination records.

Travellers using digital NADRA services should make sure their CNIC information is accurate before completing the certificate process.

Does This Apply to All Pakistan Airports?

Implementation dates have not been identical at every airport.

Karachi and Peshawar have had separately announced grace periods, so passengers departing from Lahore, Islamabad or another airport should check the latest instructions applying to their departure point rather than assuming Karachi’s deadline applies nationwide.
