Use this Zakat calculator for Pakistan to estimate personal Zakat in Pakistani rupees. Enter qualifying cash, savings, gold, silver and other wealth, deduct permissible liabilities, and compare the result with the nisab you follow.
Work out your Zakat estimate
Choose the nisab you follow, add qualifying wealth and check your lunar-year condition. This worksheet shows the calculation behind your estimate.
Estimated Zakat
- Qualifying assets
- Permissible liabilities
- Net qualifying wealth
- Selected nisab
This calculator runs in your browser. It does not submit or save the financial values you enter. Printing is optional.
This is a personal wealth estimate, not a religious ruling. Agricultural produce, livestock, Zakat al-Fitr and specialist business or investment rulings are outside this worksheet.
How to calculate Zakat in PKR
- Choose the gold, silver or other nisab standard that applies to your situation. Enter its PKR value for your Zakat date.
- Add the Zakatable value of your assets in PKR. Count each balance or asset once, and deduct only liabilities permitted under the guidance you follow.
- Confirm whether the required lunar-year condition, known as hawl, is met. The tool does not decide this from your balances.
- Calculate your estimate. When the applicable conditions are met, the worksheet applies 2.5% to the full net qualifying wealth.
Formula: net qualifying wealth = qualifying assets − permissible liabilities. If that net wealth reaches the applicable nisab and the relevant conditions are met, the estimated Zakat is net qualifying wealth ÷ 40.
Example: suppose qualifying assets total PKR 1,200,000 and permissible liabilities total PKR 200,000. Net wealth is PKR 1,000,000. If it reaches your applicable nisab and your lunar-year condition is met, the estimate is PKR 25,000. These are example figures, not a current nisab quotation.
What is the nisab in Pakistan?
Nisab is the wealth threshold relevant to Zakat eligibility. Common references used in Pakistan are the value of 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Shaukat Khanum’s Zakat guidance explains these weights and the distinction between gold-only and mixed assets under its approach.
Recognised approaches differ. The National Zakat Foundation also notes an opinion using 85 grams of gold and 595 grams of silver. If you follow those weights or a different threshold, select “Other standard / scholar-provided” and enter its verified PKR value.
To value a metal-based nisab, multiply the applicable weight by the appropriate gold or silver price per gram on your Zakat date. Use consistent purity, units and valuation guidance. This calculator accepts a threshold you can verify; it does not provide a live gold or silver price feed.
Bank deductions are a separate context. Pakistan’s government notifies a threshold for automatic deductions from specified bank accounts. See the SBP circular for the 2026 deduction notification. Do not assume that an annual bank threshold is the current value of your personal gold- or silver-based nisab.
Which assets and liabilities should I enter?
The worksheet has categories for cash and bank balances, other savings, qualifying gold and silver, investments, trading stock and qualifying receivables. Enter only the Zakatable portion of each category according to the guidance you follow. Islamic Relief Pakistan’s calculator provides a reference for organising assets and short-term liabilities.
Jewellery, shares, pensions, debts and property held for different purposes can require individual advice. Do not automatically enter your home, personal car, an entire investment portfolio or a full outstanding mortgage. If the permitted treatment is unclear, ask a qualified scholar before relying on the estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Is Zakat calculated on wealth above the nisab only?
In this personal wealth worksheet, the nisab is an eligibility threshold. When the applicable conditions are met, the 2.5% estimate uses the full net qualifying wealth, rather than only the amount exceeding the threshold.
Can I calculate Zakat on gold and savings together?
You can enter their qualifying PKR values in separate fields. Choose the nisab applicable to that combination of assets. The calculator does not silently choose a religious opinion for you.
What if I have not completed the required lunar year?
Select “No” or “I am not sure.” If the entered wealth reaches the nisab, the tool shows a conditional amount and states that it is not a confirmed amount due now. Confirm your Zakat anniversary and applicable timing rules.
Does the calculator save my financial information?
The calculator performs its arithmetic in your browser and does not submit or save the figures you enter. You may choose to print a worksheet or save it as a PDF through your browser. Other website services are covered by the site’s privacy policy.
Can I use it for Zakat al-Fitr, farming or livestock?
This worksheet covers a personal wealth estimate at the lunar-year rate of 2.5%. Zakat al-Fitr, agricultural produce, livestock and specialist business rulings require separate calculations.
Methodology and related tools
This calculator uses paisa precision for entered PKR values, subtracts entered permissible liabilities, compares the net figure with your selected nisab and rounds the resulting 2.5% estimate to two decimal places. It is a calculation aid, not a fatwa or a claim of independent scholarly approval.
