PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026: Apply Online, Eligibility & Documents

PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026 online application eligibility and documents

Students can now check their eligibility and submit applications for the Prime Minister’s Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026 through the official online portal managed by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC).

The scheme is aimed at top-performing students from government and public schools, but eligibility differs depending on the student’s province, education board and class.

The official portal allows eligible students to search their record using their CNIC or B-Form number, roll number or registration number, upload the required documents and submit one application online.

The Chromebook initiative follows the government’s broader announcement that it plans to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan as part of its digital education programme.

Who Can Apply for PM Chromebook Scheme 2026?

The official eligibility rules are different for provincial education boards and for Islamabad, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan

For boards in these four provinces, the scheme currently covers:

Top-performing Grade 9 / SSC-I students

who:

  • appeared in the Annual Examinations 2026; and
  • study in a government or public school.

Private-school students are not included under the currently published eligibility criteria.

Islamabad, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

For education boards in:

  • Islamabad Capital Territory;
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir; and

top-performing students from both:

Grade 9 / SSC-I

and

Grade 10 / SSC-II

are being considered.

Are Private School Students Eligible?

No, not under the eligibility criteria currently displayed on the official portal.

The IBCC portal specifically states that only students enrolled in government or public schools are eligible under the scheme.

That means students from private schools should not assume they can apply simply because they achieved high examination marks.

How to Apply for PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026

The application process is online.

Students should use the official IBCC PM Youth Chromebook Scheme portal and follow the steps below.

Official PM Youth Chromebook Scheme portal

Step 1: Select Your Education Board

Open the official application portal and select the education board under which you appeared in the relevant Annual Examination 2026.

Choose the correct board because your information is matched against records supplied directly by that board.

Step 2: Enter Your Identification Details

You can search your student record using any one of the following:

  • CNIC number;
  • B-Form number;
  • roll number; or
  • registration number.

The portal instructs applicants to enter the number exactly as it appears in the board record and without dashes where applicable.

Step 3: Enter Your Date of Birth

Enter your date of birth exactly as recorded in your academic and identification documents.

The system uses this information together with your board and identification details to locate your student record.

Step 4: Click “Find My Record”

Once the information has been entered, select Find My Record.

The portal checks the details against the student list submitted by your education board.

What Information Will the Portal Show?

If your record is found, the system can display information including:

  • student name;
  • school;
  • examination details; and
  • marks.

Review all information carefully before continuing.

The data comes from the education board, so any incorrect information may need to be corrected through the relevant board rather than directly through the Chromebook portal.

What If Your Record Is Not Found?

Do not immediately assume you are ineligible.

If your CNIC or B-Form search does not find your record, try using:

Roll number

or

Registration number

instead.

If the portal still cannot locate your information, the official instructions advise contacting your respective education board because IBCC relies on data provided by the boards.

Documents Required for PM Chromebook Scheme

Applicants whose records are available on the portal should prepare the following documents:

1. Recent Colour Photograph

The photograph should be:

  • recent;
  • front-facing;
  • taken against a plain background.

Accepted formats:

JPG or PNG

Maximum file size:

300 KB.

2. Mark Sheet

Applicants need their relevant:

SSC-I / Grade 9

or, where applicable:

SSC-II / Grade 10

mark sheet.

Accepted formats:

  • JPG;
  • PNG; or
  • PDF.

Maximum size:

300 KB.

3. Student B-Form or CNIC

Upload an attested copy of the student’s B-Form or CNIC.

  • JPG;
  • PNG;
  • PDF.

Maximum file size:

300 KB.

The same 300 KB file-size limit applies.

Chromebook Application Documents Checklist

Before beginning the application, keep these ready:

DocumentRequirement
Recent photographJPG/PNG, maximum 300 KB
SSC-I/SSC-II mark sheetJPG/PNG/PDF, maximum 300 KB
Student B-Form/CNICAttested, maximum 300 KB
Father/Guardian CNICAttested, maximum 300 KB

All uploaded documents should remain clearly readable after compression or resizing.

Can You Submit More Than One Application?

No.

The official Chromebook portal states:

Each student can apply only once.

Students should therefore check everything carefully before final submission.

Can You Edit the Application After Submission?

Applicants should be particularly careful here.

The official instructions state that once an application has been submitted, students cannot change the form themselves.

Before submitting, verify:

  • spelling of your name;
  • B-Form/CNIC details;
  • school;
  • examination record;
  • marks;
  • date of birth; and
  • uploaded documents.

Providing false information can result in cancellation of the Chromebook allocation and may lead to further action.

What Happens After You Submit?

After a successful submission, the system generates:

a reference number

and

an application slip.

Students should download and save the slip as proof that their application has been submitted.

Do not discard the reference number because it may be required for future verification or status updates.

Is There a PM Chromebook Application Deadline?

The official scheme portal currently does not display one nationwide application deadline for all education boards.

Individual boards may issue their own schedules or instructions.

Students should therefore monitor:

  • the official Chromebook portal;
  • their respective education board website;
  • their school; and
  • official government announcements

for the applicable last date.

Do not rely solely on unofficial social-media posts claiming a nationwide deadline unless the date is confirmed by IBCC or the relevant board.

Does Finding Your Record Mean You Will Get a Chromebook?

Not necessarily.

Finding your record means the board has provided matching student information to the system and you can proceed with the application.

It should not automatically be treated as final selection for a Chromebook.

The scheme specifically refers to top-performing students, so final allocation will depend on the applicable merit and selection process.

Is This the Same as the PM Laptop Scheme?

No.

This distinction is important.

The PM Youth Chromebook Scheme currently being processed through IBCC targets eligible school students under the criteria described above.

The existing Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme administered through HEC has historically targeted students enrolled in eligible higher-education institutions.

HEC’s current PM Laptop Scheme pages direct university students through the PM Youth Programme student-service system.

Students should therefore make sure they are applying for the correct scheme.

How Many Chromebooks Will Be Distributed?

The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme has announced plans for 500,000 Chromebooks as part of the wider digital-learning initiative.

Pakistan has also established Chromebook assembly capacity through NRTC, with earlier government announcements referring to an initial production capacity of around 500,000 devices annually.

The number of devices allocated to each province or individual education board has not been detailed on the official application portal.

What is the last date to apply?

The official portal currently does not show one common nationwide deadline. Students should follow their education board’s official announcements for any board-specific closing date.

The PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026 application process is now available through the official IBCC portal, but it is not open to every student in Pakistan.

Eligibility is currently focused on top-performing government/public-school students, with Grade 9 students considered in Punjab, Sindh, KP and Balochistan and both Grade 9 and Grade 10 students considered in ICT, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Eligible students should first check whether their board record appears on the portal, prepare their photograph, mark sheet, attested B-Form/CNIC and parent or guardian CNIC, and carefully review the application before submitting it.

Because only one application is permitted and applicants cannot directly edit their form after submission, accuracy is particularly important.
