ISLAMABAD:
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a new fee structure for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) and Child Registration Certificates (B-Form), effective January 2025. This update aligns with NADRA’s broader efforts to streamline its services and ensure cost recovery.

For CNICs, the normal processing fee remains Rs750, while urgent and executive processing fees are set at Rs1,500 and Rs2,500, respectively. Replacement CNICs will incur similar charges. For B-Forms, the standard processing fee is Rs50, with an expedited option available for Rs500.

NADRA has also introduced an online application process for certain services, reducing the need for in-person visits. This digital initiative is expected to enhance efficiency and reduce long queues at registration centers. Applicants can now track the status of their applications in real-time, further improving the user experience.

Additionally, NADRA has rolled out special discounts for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, underscoring its commitment to inclusivity. Officials have urged citizens to ensure timely renewal of their CNICs and B-Forms to avoid penalties.

The announcement has been met with mixed reactions, with some appreciating the improved services and others criticizing the fees as burdensome for low-income families. However, NADRA maintains that the updated fees are necessary to sustain its operations and invest in technological upgrades.

These changes are expected to significantly enhance NADRA’s ability to serve Pakistan’s growing population, while also addressing the challenges posed by increasing demand for identity verification services.
