ISLAMABAD: On the 77th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, President Asif Ali Zardari paid glowing tribute to the Father of the Nation and called upon Pakistanis to uphold his vision of justice, equality, tolerance, and democracy.
Quaid’s Legacy of Dignity and Identity
In his message, President Zardari emphasized that Quaid-e-Azam was not only the founder of Pakistan but also the architect of dignity and self-respect for Muslims of the Subcontinent. “He created a homeland where Muslims could live with identity and pride, free from domination and discrimination,” the President noted in the official statement.
The President highlighted Jinnah’s vision of a progressive, inclusive, and forward-looking Pakistan, where all citizens—regardless of religion, caste, or creed—would enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
Two-Nation Theory Reaffirmed
Drawing attention to developments across the border, President Zardari said the treatment of minorities in India under the RSS-influenced government had reaffirmed the Two-Nation Theory. According to him, religious and social discrimination in India proves that Jinnah’s vision was justified and necessary.
“Even India’s minority communities acknowledge that their rights are no longer secure,” he remarked. “These circumstances validate that the creation of Pakistan was not only justified but inevitable.”
Challenges Confronting Pakistan
The President acknowledged the difficulties facing Pakistan today, including economic instability, the threat of climate change, extremism, and the need for institutional reforms. He stressed that Pakistan must learn from the resolve and unity demonstrated by Quaid-e-Azam and the leaders of the Pakistan Movement, who overcame immense odds to establish the country.
“This is a defining moment for Pakistan,” President Zardari said. “Let us reaffirm our resolve to build the country envisioned by Quaid — a democratic state, governed by the rule of law and accountable institutions.”
Call for National Unity and Reforms
President Zardari underlined the importance of ensuring opportunities for youth, empowering women, and safeguarding the rights of minorities. He emphasized that these steps were vital for building a just and prosperous nation in line with Quaid’s ideals.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from Quaid’s guiding principles of “unity, faith, and discipline,” describing them as timeless values that remain relevant to Pakistan’s survival and progress.
A Vision for the Future
The President concluded his message with an expression of confidence in the people of Pakistan. He noted that if the nation sincerely follows Jinnah’s legacy and teachings, no challenge would remain insurmountable.
If we honour his legacy with sincerity and action, there is no challenge we cannot overcome,” he said. “By acting upon the Quaid’s teachings, we can make Pakistan stronger and prosperous.
